New Delhi: There was a heated debate between AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi during the opening day of the News24 Manthan 2021 on Tuesday.
The main point of contention during the debate was regarding love jihad and religious conversion.
Both AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi responded to News24 anchor Sandeep Chaudhary’s questions with utmost care.
During the debate on News24 Manthan 2021, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi was the first to speak.
The BJP leader denouunced Love Jihad and religious conversion during his speech.
On the other hand, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi targeted the BJP over the issue of Love Jihad.
AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi said that there is no need for anyone who wants to change religion to take permission from someone else.
“The BJP has been continuously working against the Constitution. The government has a law on love jihad,” Asaduddin Owaisi said.
“In the name of Love Jihad, the BJP is trying to spread hatred. The Uttar Pradesh government has enacted a law which will impose 10 years of punishment for Love Jihad, which is wrong,” he added.
When Asaduddin Owaisi was asked whether the AIMIM is the B team of the BJP, he was furious.
“In West Bengal also our party is going to contest elections and they have nothing to do with BJP. The more a party contests in a democracy, the stronger the country is. In West Bengal, Muslims are not slaves of any party. It is not necessary to prove my loyalty to the country,” Asasuddin Owaisi said.
“When will the BJP stop distributing certificates of patriotism,” the AIMIM leader added.
Responding to the allegations of Asaduddin Owaisi, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the Sangh-BJP did coin the term Love Jihad, the Kerala CM used the term.
He further said that religious conversion with the help of deceit, force and influence will not be allowed .
“THe BJP is continuously working in the interest of the country,” Sudhanshu Trivedi asserted.
