New Delhi: With the assembly elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur round the corner, all the parties in the fray are putting their best foot forward in their attempt to emerge victorious. 

Needless to say, like every election, this time too, the eyes of the entire country are on the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. 

The UP Assembly elections are being seen as the semi-finals of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Therefore, the political atmosphere in the state has become super hot.

Over the past few days, the temperature in UP’s political circles has risen due to the shifting of different leaders and the list of candidates being released one after another by the political parties.

Meanwhile, News24 Editor-in-Chief Anuradha Prasad today had an exclusive interview with Samajwadi Party (SP) president and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav. 

During the conversation, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav answered every question of Anuradha Prasad, editor-in-chief of News24.

This time the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are being held in 7 phases. The first round of voting will be held on February 10, the second round voting on February 14, third phase voting on February 20, fourth phase voting on February 23, fifth phase voting on February 27, sixth phase voting on March 3 and 7th and final phase voting on March 7. Significantly, the term of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) assembly is ending in May 2022. Therefore, a new assembly will be formed in the state before this date.

The state currently has a BJP government led by Yogi Adityanath. In the assembly elections held in 2017, BJP had the full support of the people of UP. Out of 403 assembly seats in the state, BJP had managed to win 325 seats. The Samajwadi Party won 47 seats, the BSP 19 and the Congress 7 seats. While other 5 candidates were successful in winning.
