Bijapur (Chhattisgarh): The scene after the encounter between 1500 jawans and an unknown number of Naxalites in the Silger forest in Tarrem police station area in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh was too terrible to behold.
The bodies of some jawans were lying in the open ground and some in the village. Naxalites went into hiding in the jungle after robbing the soldiers’ weapons, uniforms and shoes.
After first monitoring the movement in the area there from a UAV, the backup force personnel reached the spot. The names of the martyred soldiers have not yet been revealed.
According to official sources, around 24 soldiers have attained martyrdom. Naxalites are reported to have suffered heavy losses in this encounter. The body of a female Naxalite has been recovered. It is being told that the Naxalites have fled with the bodies of their comrades. However, a search operation is still on in the area.

It is being said that the place where the police-Naxal encounter took place, this area comes under the guerrilla war zone. That is, this is a comfort zone for the Naxalites who specialize in taking cover of trees and bushes by hiding and making ambush. Here the security forces do not attack together but move in small units.
Estimates of more than 250 Naxalites:
More than 250 Naxalites are expected to be present in the attack. However, Bastar IG P Sundararaj says that the movement of Naxalites still remains. It will take time for the situation to become clear.
It is being said that two days ago, the soldiers had gone out in different units to search the area.
