Naxalites kill kidnapped police inspector in Chhattisgarh

Raipur (Chhattisgarh): Naxalites killed an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Chhattisgarh Police on Saturday, a few days after abducting him from Bijapur.

The police officer was kidnapped when he returned to his home on April 21. A case has been registered in this case and the authorities are investigating it.

Naxalites kidnapped ASI Murali Tati in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Wednesday. He came to his home in the village of Palnar, which falls under the boundary of the Gangalur police station in Bijapur, when he was kidnapped. Bijapur Superintendent of Police Kamalochan Kashyap confirmed this.

On Saturday morning, Kashyap announced that ASI Tati had been killed by Naxalites.

Last month, at least 22 security personnel were killed in a Naxalite attack in Sukma-Bijapur area of Chhattisgarh. Besides the dead, more than 30 security personnel were also injured in the deadly attack.

Yesterday, a passenger train derailed between Bhansi and Bacheli by Naxalites. There were about 30 passengers and all were safely evacuated from the train. District Reserve Guard personnel were deployed to rescue the passengers.

A few days after the derailment of the train, the Chhattisgarh Police shot down a top Naxalite leader in Dantewada. A reward of Rs 5 lakh was placed on his head.
