Nargis started her career at a very young age and won everyone’s heart with her performance. Nargis’s real name was Fatima Rashid and she was born on 1 June 1929 in the city of Calcutta, West Bengal. Nargis’ father Uttamchand Mohandas was a well-known doctor and her mother Jaddanbai was a famous dancer and singer. Nargis was brought into the films with the help of her mother, she started her career with the film ‘Talaash-e-Haq’, in which she worked as a child artist.
Nargis was just 6 years old at the time of her first film, after this film, she became famous by the name Baby Nargis. Nargis’s acting magic was such that in 1968, she received her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Nargis had impressed everyone with her acting as well as she was the first actress to be nominated for Rajya Sabha. Apart from this, Nargis was also the first actress to be awarded the Padma Shri award.

Nargis and Raj Kapoor’s love affair was very famous in the film industry, although she married actor Sunil Dutt. Love began on the set of ‘Mother India’ between Nargis and Sunil Dutt and in the year 1958, they both got married. Nargis and Sunil Dutt have three children Sanjay Dutt, Priya Dutt, and Namrata Dutt.
