New Delhi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Mansa Police probing the murder of the famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, is all set to bring gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the main conspirator of the murder, to Punjab on a production warrant.
Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Tora said that the police have got several leads, based on which two gangsters were brought on production warrant and one was arrested. “We are sure that an organized gang carried out the attack in which Moosewala was killed. We are interrogating them to get better leads and find out the real culprits.
An official, requesting anonymity, said, “The SIT is questioning the accused to get more clues,” HT reported. The investigation so far is pointing towards the Bishnoi gang. The process to bring gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from Delhi to Punjab will be initiated through a local court after his remand given to the Delhi Police is over. Meanwhile, the SIT is trying to identify the attackers who carried out the attack.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police on Tuesday secured five-day custody of gangster Bishnoi, lodged in Tihar Jail, in an old case. The Punjab Police on Tuesday detained Manpreet Singh alias Bhau of Dhapai village in Mansa district, who is suspected of providing logistical support to the killers, including arranging two vehicles involved in Musewala’s murder. Mansa court has sent him on police remand for five days.
Bhau, who was arrested from Dehradun on Monday afternoon in a joint operation by Punjab Police and his Uttarakhand counterparts, is suspected of providing Bolero and Toyota Corolla cars to the killers. Mansa police after getting some strong leads also brought two gangsters Manpreet Singh Manna and Siraj Sandhu on production warrant from Ferozepur Central Jail and Bathinda Central Jail.
Manna, who is a distant relative of Bhau, had killed another gangster Kulveer Singh Naruana and his accomplice Chamkaur Singh last year. Sandhu, who is a member of the Bishnoi gang, is accused of killing a Hindu leader in Amritsar, police sources said, adding that Manna was in touch with Bishnoi from inside the Ferozepur jail.
At the same time, after the murder of Moosewala, the gang claimed responsibility and called it a revenge for the murder of Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Middukheda in Mohali in August last year.
