Kolkata: Isolated places over Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to receive heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
Thunderstorm, accompanied by lightning with gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph), is very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and with lightning at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Uttar Pradesh Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and Mahe and Lakshadweep are also to receive heavy rainfall.
Heavy rain alert in Bihar
Monsoon activity remains normal over Bihar. Light to moderate rain occurred in most parts of the state in the last 24 hours, while some places in North Bihar have recorded very heavy rains. On the basis of satellite images and statistical calculations, it has been told by the Meteorological Center Patna that till now the rain conditions were strong in the north Bihar side of the state.
Now the conditions of rain and thundershowers are also forming in the remaining part of the state. In view of this, a rain and thunderstorm alert has been issued for all the districts of the state in the next 48 hours.
In North Bihar and South West Bihar, the intensity of rain and thunderstorms will be high in West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar districts. Therefore, an orange alert has been issued in 10 districts.
