Mohanlal receives first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Kochi

New Delhi: South Superstar Mohanlal became the latest Indian celebrity to take a jab of the COVID-19 vaccine. On Wednesday, the 60-year-old actor shared the news with his over 3 million followers on Instagram.  He received the vaccine at the Amrita Hospital, Kochi. The ‘Drishyam 2’ actor took to his Instagram handle and shared pictures of him being given a shot of the vaccine. He also thanked the government and the companies producing the vaccine. The actor also expressed gratitude to the medical fraternity and hospitals for their efforts. He wrote alongside his pictures, “Took the First Shot of Covid Vaccine from Amrita Hospital. I take this opportunity to thank the Government of India, the companies which are producing the vaccine & the medical fraternity, including all hospitals, for their relentless assistance and cooperation shown towards the COVID Vaccination Drive.”

On the Workfront, Mohanlal was last seen in the superhit film ‘Drishyam 2’ which released on Amazon Prime Video. He has been shooting for his next film Aaraattu which is directed by B Unnikrishnan and all set to release on August 12. 

Before Mohanlal, celebrities including Anupam Kher, Jeetendra, Hema Malini, Saif Ali Khan and  Satish Shah also received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine. Veteran South Indian actor turned politician Kamal Haasan also received his first dose of vaccination While sharing a picture of receiving his first jab at the hospital, the 66-year-old actor took to Twitter and wrote, “Sri Ramachandra Hospital I got vaccinated. Everyone who cares not just about themselves but also about others should get the vaccination immediately. Today immunization of body, next month vaccination against corruption. Get ready (sic).”

The second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, which began on  March 1 in India, witnessed a good turnout. This phase is for people aged 60 and above, and those in the 45-59 age bracket with comorbidities. Including the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi. Amit Shah, S Jaishankar, CM Nitish Kumar, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, and Naveen Patnaik have also taken their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
