MG Motor enjoyed great 2021 in India, sales jumped by 43%

New Delhi: MG Motor India said in a statement on Saturday that the company has recorded a 43 per cent increase in retail sales in 2021.

According to the company, it had sold 28,162 units in 2020 and this year the company sold 40,273 units. MG Motor said in a statement that the company’s sales last year were mainly from its hectare SUV.

The Hector SUV sold 31,509 units this year, followed by the Gloucester SUV with 3,823 units, the ZS EV with 2,798 units and the Astor SUV with 2,143 units.

Rajiv Chaba, Chairman and Managing Director, MG Motor India, said that the year 2021 was a challenging year for the entire auto industry.

“We see that the situation will not remain very good due to unforeseen factors. Inflation could rise due to omicron hazard, global semiconductor shortage and increase in material cast. However, flexible demand trends give us a reason to be cautiously optimistic,” he said.

Noting that uncertainty could continue for the first six months of 2022 and remain unchanged throughout the year, Chaba said MG Motor would constantly monitor these factors and align its operations to meet demand.

MG Motor India said that it has closed 2021 with a significant order backlog and is trying to meet the growing demand.

MG Motor India is working tirelessly to promote EVs in the country. In this order, the company had launched its first SUV MG ZS EV. This electric SUV was launched with the ‘Change What You Can’ initiative.

The company believes that if people adopt EVs soon, the country will move towards zero-emissions. This will reduce air pollution as well as have less effect on people’s pockets. Which encouraged people to adopt zero-emission vehicles.
