MG Astor closes booking for 2021, can now be booked for 2022 only

New Delhi: The newly launched Astor of British carmaker MG Motors has torn the market in the Indian market. The company started booking this mid-size SUV on Thursday morning. During this time Astor got a tremendous response from the market.

The company has claimed that it has been able to sell 5,000 units of this car in less than 20 minutes. MG had fixed a booking amount of Rs 25,000 for this car.

Now the company has issued a statement saying that the booking of this car for 2021 has been completed and now this car can be booked only for 2022. MG claimed that it aims to deliver 5,000 units of the Astor SUV in 2021.

Commenting on the phenomenal consumer response to the car, Rajiv Chaba, President, and MD, MG Motor India said that the automaker is excited about the response it has received from customers. He further added, “Given the global chip crisis the industry is going through, we can only supply a limited number of cars this year. We expect the supply to improve from the first quarter of next year.”

Let us know that the starting price of Astor has been fixed at Rs 9.78 lakh. The company had launched a total of five trims of the Astor – Style, Super, Smart, Sharp, and Savvy.

At the same time, the price of the Savvy trim of the last launched car has been fixed at Rs 15.78 lakh (ex-showroom). This trim comes with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Let us know that the company will start the delivery of Astor from October 21.

MG Motors has launched this car keeping in mind the customers who like vehicles like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

The delivery of this car will be given in November and December to the customers who make reserve booking of Astor. Apart from this, the current price of this car will be applicable only for those customers who will book this car in 2021. At the same time, its price can be seen from next year. It is reported that 3000 units of Astor will be delivered in the first batch.

MG Astor looks quite different from its electric front i.e. ZS EV in terms of looks. But this vehicle is basically heavy loaded in terms of features.

AI-Based Personal Assistant

The AI-based personal assistant provided at Astor aims to provide a seamless experience to the passengers. This amazing system can portrait human emotions and interact with the user. It is built using NLP and NLU techniques to understand human behavior and respond accordingly.

In addition, it can read news and tell jokes to the user. Plus, it’s designed to respond to commands to open the sunroof, control the environment, even use navigation.

Autonomous level-2 safety

The Astor is equipped with Level-2 Autonomous Technology to keep the passengers safe. These systems SUV gets features like Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Headlamp Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Prevention. It also gets a speed assist system, which keeps the vehicle within the speed limit at all times.

The infotainment screen of Astor is 10.1 inches. It is slightly smaller than the 10.25-inch unit seen on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. However, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility is standard across the entire Astor range.

Steering modes

These days it is common for most cars to have more than one driving mode. But the MG Astor goes a step further with three steering modes – Urban, Normal and Dynamic. However, MG is yet to reveal how exactly these mods will work. But it is certain that these steering modes will make the driving experience a lot easier.

MG Astor Warranty & AMC:

MG Motor India is offering a standard 3+3+3 warranty package on the Astor. This includes three years warranty for unlimited kilometres, three years roadside assistant and three labor free periodic services. There is also an annual caring package that starts from around ₹ 16,000.

Integrated Jio E-SIM

For in-car connectivity facility, the Astor is equipped with a Jio e-SIM. It is mated to a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and can be used to access the Internet for various applications that are available on-board. The Personal Assistant also uses the system and e-SIM to share essential information over the Internet.
