Matthew McConaughey has decided to not run for Texas Governor

McConaughey shared a three-minute long video where he spoke about the values of service and responsibility as well as the problems being faced in local and national politics.

New York: One of the hottest heroes in Hollywood was soon on his way to become a popular face in politics as well. However, it seems Matthew McConaughey has decided to not enter that race finally. The Oscar-winning actor recently took to Instagram to announce that he will not be participating in politics.

Matthew shared that the elected office was a path he was not choosing to take at the moment and instead wants to focus on serving the people of his home state in ways other than pursuing public office.

McConaughey shared a three-minute long video where he spoke about the values of service and responsibility as well as the problems being faced in local and national politics.

The Wedding Planner actor said that while he had “been considering a run for the governor of Texas” he had been out “listening and been learning, been measuring and studying Texas politics and American politics,” in an attempt to understand the issues to make a decision on how best he could serve.

However, the actor revealed, he will not be taking the path of politics as of yet, adding that he will instead continue to work and invest by supporting entrepreneurs, businesses and foundations.

Interestingly, despite his reluctance to enter politics, The Hollywood Reporter stated that a Dallas Morning News poll this week shows that he would beat Republican incumbent Greg Abbott by eight points in a head-to-head match, as well as Democratic candidate Beto O’Rourke. A survey conducted in July has suggested that a majority of Texans would vote for McConaughey in a hypothetical election.
