New Delhi: An earthquake hit the Delhi-NCR region late on Friday evening. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Amritsar district of Punjab.
The earthquake registered 6.1 on the Richter scale.
Tremors were felt over a large part of northern India. The entire NCR region – Delhi, Noida and Gurugram – felt mild tremors.
Tremors were also felt in Uttarakhand, which has recently been hit by a glacier burst which caused widespread destruction.
Jammu and Kashmir was also affected. Strong earthquake tremors felt in the Jammu region along with Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley.
Several residential houses suffered partial damage at Bandipora and Kupwara in North Kashmir, further reports are being collected from all over Jammu and Kashmir.
The South Asia/Central Asia region was hit by another earthquake on Friday.
The epicentre of this earthquake was in Tajikistan near the border with Xinjiang. The magnitude of this earthquake was 6.3.
