Masoom Sawaal Poster Controversy: FIR lodged against the makers in UP

New Delhi: The poster of Masoom Sawaal stirred huge controversy a few days back. The poster of Santosh Upadhyay’s movie depicts an image of Lord Krishna on a sanitary pad. The released in theatres on August 5.

Now a new update came to the fore regarding the controversy. The director of the movie is booked by UP Police. As per police reports, FIR has been lodged against Santosh Upadhyay and his entire production team on Sunday.

Sahibabad Circle officer Swatantra Singh said the FIR has been registered under Indian Penal Code section 295 (injuring or defiling places of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class).

The complaint was made by Hindu Rashtra Navnirman Sena President Amit Rathore. The complaint alleged that, the film producer has used a picture of Lord Krishna on sanitary pads in a poster. The complainer alleged that, this has hurt the religious sentiments of the followers of ‘Sanātana Dharma’ and can flare up communal riots in Uttar Pradesh and across the country.

Earlier, defending the poster depiction, director Santosh Upadhyay said, “ sometimes our perspective of viewing things is wrong, which leads to misconception.”

He further said, “The entire film is based on menstruation hence, it is mandatory to show the pad. That’s why there is a pad on the poster and not Krishna Ji on the pad. Due to which, we are also receiving less support to promote this film.”

Masoom Sawaal is based on menstruation and the taboos associated with it. The fringe movie stars Nitanshi Goyal, Ekavali Khanna, Shishir Sharma, Madhu Sachdeva, Rohit Tiwari, Brinda Trivedi, Ramji Bali, Shashie Vermaa and other.
