Chandigarh: Months ahead of the highly anticipated Assembly elections in Punjab, former state chief minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, on Thursday said he wants to remove both Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab.

Speaking at the News24 Conclave – Manthan 2021 Punjab – Captain Amarinder Singh said, “I want to wipe out both Congress and SAD in Punjab.”

Earlier this month, Amarinder Singh tendered his resignation to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and even highlighted the reasons from stepping down from the party.

Asked whether his party will form an alliance with Congress, Amarinder Singh said, “They (Congress) don’t want me, why do I want them.”

Earlier in the Conclave, Amarinder Singh said ruled out any possibility of alliance with any political party other than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), given the condition that they will have to first find a solution to the ongoing farmers’ agitation.

Singh went on to say, “Once the farmers’ issue is over we will have seat adjustment with BJP.”
