“We have made it absolutely clear, we will wait for BJP to solve the farmers’ issue,” said Captain Amarinder Singh
Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday ruled out any possibility of alliance with any political party other than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), given the condition that they will have to first find a solution to the ongoing farmers’ issue.
Speaking at News24 Conclave – Manthan 2021 Punjab – Amarinder Singh said, “We have made it absolutely clear, we will wait for BJP to solve the farmers’ issue.” He added that his new party – Punjab Lok Congress – will form an alliance with any other party other than BJP.
Singh went on to say, “Once the farmers’ issue is over we will have seat adjustment with BJP.”
Asked if he will be BJP’s face in the upcoming assembly polls, Amarinder Singh said, “BJP should have answer to this, currently I am face on my party.”
He also said, “We are willing to work with BJP at national level.”
Assembly elections are slated to be held in Punjab early next year.
