A person in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh has been arrested after his wife was paraded of their village carrying him on her shoulders on the suspicion of infidelity, the police stated on Thursday.
The police motion got here after a video of the incident went viral on Wednesday, wherein the girl is seen carrying her husband on her shoulders as a punishment whereas villagers, carrying sticks, may be seen heckling her.
According to police, the couple returned to their village underneath Kotwali police station within the district from Gujarat through the Covid-19 lockdown.
In the five-minute-long video, the girl may be seen struggling to stroll, and even forcing her husband to get off her shoulders. But the villagers once more drive her to carry her husband.
“There was a dispute between the husband and wife. The husband questioned her fidelity. When we got the information we talked to the woman and lodged the FIR,” Surendra Singh, Jhabua Kotwali police inspector, stated.
Along with the husband, a number of others, together with their kin, have been booked underneath sections 354 (Assault or legal drive to girl with intent to outrage her modesty), 355 (Assault or legal drive with intent to dishonour individual, in any other case than on grave provocation), 147 (rioting), 149 (Every member of illegal meeting responsible of offence dedicated in prosecution of frequent object), 294 (Obscene acts and songs) and 506 (legal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Earlier in June, the same incident passed off in Jhabua when a girl was forced to carry her husband on her shoulders, for over an hour. The man suspected infidelity on the a part of his wife, in accordance to police. The man and three others have been arrested within the incident.
