Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauched a fierce attack on Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee at a BJP rally in Midnapore, West Bengal.

Eleven TMC MLAs, an MP and a former MP joined the BJP in the presence of Amit Shah at the rally. These include Shuvendu Adhikari, Taapsee Mondal, Ashok Dinda, Sudeep Mukherjee, Saikat Panj, Sheelbhadra Dutta, Dipali Biswas, Sukra Munda, Shyampada Mukherjee, Biswajit Kundu and Maitri Banerjee.

Amit Shah attacked Mamata Banerjee and raised questions on her governance and that of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

“Why are so many people leaving Trinamool Congress? Because of Mamata Banerjee’s misrule, corruption and nepotism. Didi, this is just the beginning. By the time elections come, you will be left alone,” Amit Shah thundered.

Apart from Shuvendu Adhikari, about 50 former Trinamool Congress and Left Front leaders joined the BJP in the presence of Amit Shah. Shuvendu Adhikari had resigned from the West Bengal cabinet on November 27  and then on December 16 from the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah expressed confidence that the BJP will form the government with more than 200 seats in West Bengal.

At a BJP rally in West Midnapore, he said, “When the results of the assembly elections are declared, the BJP will form the government with more than 200 seats.”

“Senior party members are leaving the TMC. Didi accused the BJP of inciting TMC members to blame her. But I want to ask her that when she left the Congress to form the TMC, was it not defection? This is just the begining. She will be left alone,” Amit Shah added.

If West Bengal is to be liberated, then it needs to be handed over to PM Modi: Shuvendu Adhikari

After joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shuvendu Adhikari said that the economic situation in West Bengal was in a very poor state.

At Amit Shah’s Midnapore rally, he said, “If West Bengal is to be liberated, then it needs to be handed over to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
