Mamata Banerjee accuses BJP for covid-19 surge in Bengal

Kolkata: In yet another attack on Bharatiya Janata Party, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has said that the saffron party is responsible for the spread of covid-19 in the state.  Calling upon Election Commission to stop the BJP from bringing outsiders, she said that BJP has been all over in spreading the deadly infection.

During a public meeting in Nadia district, she said that BJP brought people from the states that had reporting high number of cases such as Gujarat and triggered a massive spike in the number of cases in the poll-bound state.

“I will tell the EC to stop the inflow of outsiders from states like Gujarat who are responsible for the Covid-19 spread in Bengal.

“We have nothing to say if the PM or other leaders come for campaigning… Why should the BJP bring people from worst-affected states to set up podiums and pandals for rallies,” she said.

She once again held BJP responsible for her injury that she sustained while filing papers in Nandigram ahead of the elections.

“They had targeted my leg, but I proved them wrong with the blessings of people. The injury has healed 75 per cent,” she said.
