Maharashtra Politics: After the formation of the new state government Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday.
This meeting was called to discuss the expansion of the Council of Ministers in the state.
According to party officials aware of the matter, Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis, who arrived in New Delhi late on Friday evening, are also scheduled to meet President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda.
Soon after reaching Delhi, Shinde and Fadnavis went to Maharashtra Sadan. Officials said the discussions with Shah centered around the power-sharing formula between the BJP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction.
Sharing photos from his meeting with Shinde and Fadnavis, Amit Shah tweeted, “I am sure that under the guidance of Narendra Modi, both of you will serve the people sincerely and take Maharashtra to new heights of development.”
The visit by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Fadnavis comes at a time when a petition filed by the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena seeking disqualification of 15 MLAs of their faction is slated for a crucial hearing in the Supreme Court on July 11.
