New Delhi (Anish Yande): WhatsApp has introduced new features to its messaging platform aimed at improving the experiences between businesses and consumers. At F8 Refresh, the annual developer conference of Facebook, the new features were announced. The new WhatsApp Business API introduces quicker and simplified chats for businesses to interact with people.
WhatsApp introduces new messaging features:
WhatsApp would be introducing new messaging features. Through the new update, users interacting with businesses would be presented a menu of up to 10 responses so people would no longer need to type out a reply. The reply options can be set up by businesses ahead of time through their WhatsApp Business API account.
Additionally, WhatsApp has made it clear that people still need to reach out to start a conversation or request a business contact them via WhatsApp. With these updates, the company is also providing new ways for people to give greater feedback about the experience they are having if they have a reason to block a business.
The messaging platform is facilitating improved communications with their customers. WhatsApp would now support different types of messages from businesses. Users would be notified when an item is back in stock.
The messaging service would also be integrating similar to the periodic updates from health authorities regarding the pandemic.
Improved features for businesses on WhatsApp:
Previously, businesses could only send timely notifications to customers on WhatsApp. The businesses failed to follow up with customers outside of a 24-hour window.
The messaging platform has further asserted that people would always retain control of their chats on WhatsApp. People will still have to request a business contact via WhatsApp and to reach out to start a new conversation.
WhatsApp has stated that it has noticed an increase in the businesses looking to expand their business through the messaging platform. The company has stated that several businesses have seen an increase in their user engagement and click-through rates through WhatsApp.
