Ladakh Standoff: 9th round of military talks between India, China today, know details

Sanjeev Trivedi, New Delhi: India and China are going to have commander-level talks once again in the wake of ongoing tension along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh.

This is the 9th round meeting between the two countries. This meeting will take place in China towards Moldo. According to sources, some changes can be made in the talks this time from India. Like the last few meetings this time, representatives of the Ministry of External Affairs can be involved.

In this military dialogue, India will insist on the complete withdrawal of troops by China from the points of confrontation in eastern Ladakh. Earlier, the last military meeting between the two sides took place on November 6. In which both sides had extensive talks on the withdrawal of troops from all the points of confrontation.

India believes that the process of withdrawal of troops from all the collision points should begin simultaneously. India will strongly oppose any demand from China for the withdrawal of Indian troops from several strategic positions on the southern shore of Pangong Lake.

There has been a deadlock on the border between Indian and Chinese troops for almost eight months. There have been several rounds of diplomatic and military talks, but no major breakthrough has been achieved so far.

Earlier, at the Foreign Ministry level talks on December 18, 2020, the two countries stated that they were ready to continue working towards ensuring the withdrawal of troops from all tensions along the Line of Actual Control. At the same time, there was agreement on the ninth round of talks.
