LAC Standoff: Indian Army captures Chinese PLA soldier in eastern Ladakh

Leh: The Indian Army on Friday captured a Chinese soldier on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) near Pangong Tso, in Ladakh amidst ongoing tension with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China.

Information about this has been provided by the Indian Army. According to the information received, a Chinese soldier was caught in Ladakh, on the Indian side of the LAC, in the area south of the Pangong Tso on the morning of January 8. The PLA soldier had crossed the LAC and was taken into custody by Indian soldiers stationed in the area.

On behalf of the Indian Army it was stated that due to unprecedented aggression by Chinese troops last year, troops from both countries were deployed along the LAC. Further action is being taken on the PLA soldier under the prescribed procedures. Why he crossed the LAC is also being investigated.

Sources said that the Chinese army soldier was caught in the Rezang La area.
