Kerala COVID-19 update: 3,698 new coronavirus cases, 75 deaths reported today

Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur are among the top five districts in the state to report maximum number of coronavirus cases today

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala registered 3,698 new COVID-19 cases and 75 deaths on Monday, the health department said. Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur are among the top five districts in the state to report maximum number of coronavirus cases today.

Here’s district-wise break-up of COVID-19 cases in Kerala on Monday:

Kozhikode – 724

Ernakulam – 622

Thiruvananthapuram – 465

Kollam – 348

Thrissur – 247

Kottayam – 228

Kannur – 200

Malappuram – 179

Idukki – 162

Alappuzha – 151

Wayanad – 119

Palakkad – 115

Pathanamthitta – 110

Kasaragod – 28

Total 45,190 samples were tested for coronavirus in Kerala in the last 24 hours. 

Kerala now has 54,091 active cases of coronavirus. The deadly virus has claimed lives of as many as 37,675 people in Kerala.

On Monday, 7,515 patients got recovered from COVID-19, this has increased total recoveries to 50,12,301. 

Meanwhile, there are 1,88,979 people under surveillance currently in various districts. Of these, 1,83,929 are in home or institutional quarantine, while 5,050 are in hospitals. 

 

As per reports, Kerala now stands at third position in terms of total deaths by COVID-19 in India. Only Maharashtra and Karnataka have reported more deaths compared to Kerala.
