Kashmir: Pakistani among 5 LeT terrorists killed in Pulwama encounter, one soldier martyred

Srinagar: In the encounter that took place at Hajin in Pulwama district of South Kashmir, the security forces have achieved big success. So far five terrorists have been killed. Among them is a Pakistani terrorist.

This is a major success for the security forces in Kashmir. Nishaz Lone alias Khitab, a district commander of proscribed terrorist outfit Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was among those killed.

With the killing of these five militants today in Pulwama, Total 66 militants killed during current year so far in different encounters with security forces in Kashmir Valley.


Gunfire erupted in south Kashmir’s Hanjin, Pulwama on the midnight of Thursday and Friday when suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists opened fire on seeing the security forces approaching their hideout.

After retaliation by the security forces, an encounter started in the area. Meanwhile, in the Khudwani area of Kulgam, the security forces surrounded the entire area upon receiving information about the presence of two terrorists.

In the encounter in Pulwama, the security forces have succeeded in killing five terrorists, while an Indian Army jawan has also been martyred in retaliatory action. The body of one of the slain terrorists was later found during a search. The operation of the security forces is still going on.

In Pulwama, three to four terrorists armed with automatic weapons were seen at 11.30 pm in Hanjan, Rajpora. On knowing this, the police, along with the army and CRPF personnel, started a siege of the village.

At around twelve o’clock in the night, the terrorists opened fire on the soldiers in an attempt to break the siege. The soldiers retaliated while defending themselves and after that the encounter started. Around three terrorists have been surrounded by security forces.

In the subsequent encounter against the terrorists, a soldier from the 44 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army attained martyrdom. Earlier, he was admitted to the Indian Army’s 92 Base Hospital in a critical condition.

Security forces laid siege to Khudwani

Meanwhile, two terrorists reached out to one of their contacts in Khudwani, Kulgam. On knowing this, the security forces laid siege to Khudwani. The officials concerned said that the search was not started as it was dark.

At present, all the routes to and from the village have been closed. The search operation has started again with the morning prayer.
