Joe Biden calls Vladimir Putin a ‘war criminal’

Washington (US): US President Joe Biden on Wednesday called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “war criminal” as Moscow intensified its attack on Ukraine.

“I think he is a war criminal,” Biden said, CNN reported.

Russian forces launched military operations in Ukraine on February 24, three days after Moscow recognized Ukraine’s breakaway regions, Donetsk and Luhansk as independent republics followed by the announcement of a “special military operation” to “demilitarize” and “denazify” Ukraine.

“The President’s remarks speak for themselves,” press secretary Jen Psaki later said, adding that Biden was “speaking from the heart.”

As per the report, Biden initially said “no” when asked whether Putin was a war criminal. Later he returned to a group of reporters immediately to clarify what had been asked. When asked again whether Putin was a war criminal, he answered in the affirmative, according to the report.
