New Delhi: The security forces have killed one terrorist in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir early on Wednesday morning.
In an early morning operation, the security forces have killed one terrorist in an encounter at the Chandgaon area in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir while around two terrorists are still likely to be in hiding.
At present, the joint operation by the Indian Army, the CRPF and the Jammu and Kashmir Police is going on. The Jammu and Kashmir Police has said that the encounter started early on Wednesday morning.
“Encounter has started at Chandgam area of Pulwama. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir Zone Police said in a statement on Twitter on Wednesday.
The security forces had received information about the presence of terrorists in the area after which the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel reached the spot and laid siege to the area. After this, the security forces started a search operation in the area.
As they were being encircled by the security forces, the terrorists started firing. The Indian Army then appealed to the terrorists to surrender. But the terrorists refused and kept firing. After this, the security personnel also had to retaliate. So far, the security forces have killed one terrorist in this encounter.
Earlier on Tuesday, the security forces had killed two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the security forces killed two terrorists in the encounter. An AK-47, a pistol, warlike stores, weapons and ammunition were recovered from them. The police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law.
