It’s just the beginning; many more will return, claims Mamata, after Mukul Roy’s exodus

Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee claimed on Friday that “BJP will now fall like a pack of cards” as many BJP leaders are ready to jump ship, following Mukul Roy‘s defection to the TMC.

A reverse exodus is expected to follow with Mukul Roy and his son Subhranshu Roy returning to Trinamool. Turncoat BJP leader and former Bidhannagar Mayor Sabyasachi Dutta and former MLA Prabir Ghoshal are also likely to return to Trinamool. Former forest minister Rajib Banerjee, former Santragachhi MLA Sonali Guha, former Basirhat MP Dipendu Biswas and Sarala Murmu and many more senior leaders and mid-level leaders are also expected to return to the TMC. It must be recalled, that several TMC workers had joined the BJP ahead of the Bengal assembly polls.

Sonali Guha, Saral Murmu and Dipendu Biswas have already sought apology from Mamata Banerjee and took to social media urging the TMC supremo to allow them to return to the TMC.

Anupam Hazra, a turncoat BJP leader from Birbhum, told ET, “Mukul Roy was not given proper importance and respect in the party. It is high time that the Bengal BJP gives importance to its leaders.” He complained about several lobbies operating in BJP and many able leaders not being allowed to work during the election.”

Hazra had tweeted, “Now I hope that as leaders of BJP, we will get a call for BJP meetings, maintaining proper protocol.” Hazra, known to be a close follower of Mukul Roy, had defected to the BJP a few days after Roy.
