Mumbai: India legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped the sinking ship of Chennai Super Kings with his half-century, not to forget the asterisk after the top order was sent back to the hut cheaply.
Dhoni may have left the throne of captaincy but the responsibilities have not left him. He came on the crease when CSK had lost 5 wickets for 61 runs after 10.5 overs and this is when he turned the tables around and put on a dignified score of 131 runs on board with an unbeaten partnership of 70 runs with the new captain and world no. 1 all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
The strategy was clear. Dhoni, to hit the boundaries and garner the runs, while Jadeja, holding on the wicket and giving him space. The former CSK captain hit 8 boundaries in total, 7 fours and a maximum. Jadeja scored 26 off 28 balls doing the task brilliantly for his side.
