Mumbai: The Indian stock market surged to new record highs on Wednesday in accordance with the positive global trend.
The BSE Sensex went up to an all-time high of 44,825.32 while the Nifty50 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) hit a record high of 13,145.85.
The Sensex was trading at 44,788.02 at around 9.25 a.m. This was higher by 265.00 points or 0.60 percent from the previous close of 44,523.02 points.
The Sensex opened at 44,749.73 points on Wednesday and the intra-day low was at 44,708.11 points so far.
The Nifty50 is trading higher by 76.70 points or 0.59 percent from its previous close at 13,131.85 points.
Hopes of a global recovery from the economic recession and positive news regarding the development of a COVID-19 vaccine to fight against the coronavirus pandemic have boosted the global markets.
The banking, finance, metal and oil and gas stocks witnessed healthy buying on Wednesday morning.
