India reports 8,013 Covid-19 cases, 22% lower than yesterday; positivity rate up at 1.11%

New Delhi: India has recorded 8,013 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) informed on Monday morning. There has been constant decline in fresh coronavirus cases in the country over the past few days. 

The new cases of Covid-19 reported in the country today are 22 per cent lower than 10,273 infections registered on Sunday.

The Covid-19 daily case positivity today however was at 1.11 per cent, higher than 1.00 per cent on Sunday. The weekly coronavirus positivity rate today was logged at 1.17 per cent. 

Covid-19 testing in India

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 7,23,828 samples were tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. Till date, more than 76.64 crore samples have been tested for the virus. 

Covid-19 recoveries in India

In the last 24 hours, 16,765 patients got recovered from Covid-19. The total Covid-19 recoveries in the country has now increased to 4,23,07,686 (4 crore 23 lakh 7 thousand 6 hundred and 86). India’s recovery rate now is at 98.56 per cent.

Total Covid-19 deaths in India

On Sunday, India witnessed 119 deaths due to Covid-19. Total fatalities due to the virus in the country has now risen to 5,13,843.

India Covid-19 active cases

As per the health ministry data, there are now 1,02,601 active Covid-19 cases in the country. Active cases stand at 0.24 per cent of the total cases.

Total Covid-19 cases in India

Till date, 4,29,24,130 (4 crore 29 lakh 24 thousand 1 hundred and 30) cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the country.

Covid-19 vaccination

Over 177.50 crore (1,77,50,86,335) Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the country since the nationwide vaccination drive began in India on January 16, 2021.

In the last 24 hours, 4,90,321 people got vaccinated against Covid-19.

On Sunday, 46,202 people got their first dose, while 2,98,095 beneficiaries received their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Covid-19 vaccination for children

The drive to vaccinate children between 15 and 18 years began in the country on January 3, 2022. On Sunday, 23,492 kids in the age group got their first dose, while 97,599 got their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Covid-19 Precaution dose

Precaution dose or booster shot, which is also being referred to as third dose of Covid-19 vaccine, was administered to 24,933 beneficiaries in the last 24 hours.
