I’ll be back in no time: Shreyas Iyer tweets after successful shoulder surgery

New Delhi:  Indian team batsman Shreyas Iyer confirmed that the shoulder surgery is successful, In his tweet, he says I’ll be back in no time. Perhaps, he will miss the 2021 edition of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL, because he suffered a serious injury during the first ODI of the opening series between India and England played in Pune on Tuesday 23 March. Shreyas Iyer, who played IPL for the Delhi Capitals.

The 26-year old Iyer tweeted after the successful operation, “Surgery was a success and with lion-hearted determination, I’ll be back in no time (Lion face) Thank you for your wishes (Smiling face with smiling eyes)”.

Delhi Capitals earlier announced Pant as the captain of the DC for the tournament which gets underway from April 9. Pant will step in as captain for the 14th edition of the tournament after regular skipper Shreyas Iyer hurt his left shoulder during the recently-concluded India-England ODI series.

Last week, Shreyas Iyer overwhelmed by peoples’ love took to his Twitter handle and wrote, ‘I’ve been reading your messages and have been overwhelmed by all the outpouring of love and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone. You know what they say, the greater the setback, the stronger the comeback. I shall be back soon. [Red heart] [folded hands]”.

Meanwhile, England batsman Sam Billings has lauded his skipper Rishabh Pant and said the 23-year-old is probably the best young player he has ever seen. Billings returned to the Delhi camp after being acquired by the side for his base price of Rs 2 crore in the IPL auction in February. He expressed that he is very excited to be a part of the Delhi Capitals unit for the 2021 edition.
