Nov. 21, 2020, 4:21 p.m.

New Delhi: Tina Dabi, who topped Union Public Service Commission examination in 2015, and husband IAS Athar Khan, who secured second position in the same exam have filed up for divorce with mutual consent in a Jaipur family court.

Dabi and Athar both were posted in the Rajasthan cadre of the IAS.

Notably, the couple had fallen in love while training at the Lal Bahadur Shashtri National Academy for Administration in Mussorie and had decided to marry which grabbed eyeballs from the nation for some obvious reasons.

While several people have tried to stop the wedding accusing Love Jihad, others congratulated the couple for promoting communal harmony.  Dabi created history in 2015 when she became the first-ever Dalit girl to top the UPSC examination in the very first attempt.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had congratulated the IAS couple and had tweeted, “May your love grow from strength to strength and may you be an inspiration to all Indians in this age of growing intolerance and communal hatred. God bless you.”

The couple had tied the knot in Kashmir and held a grand reception in Delhi which was attended by vice-president Venkaiah Naidu, then Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

After constant mocking that Tina was subjected to after marrying a muslim man, Tina in a Facebook had written, “”As any freethinking independent woman, I am entitled to certain choices. I am very happy with my choice and so is Aamir. Our parents are happy too. But there will always be those elements, that small minority who will always pass negative comments about dating someone from another religion.”
