I Am Happy Making Films: Akshay Kumar Breaks Silence on Joining Politics

New Delhi: Amid rumors of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar joining politics, the actor has cleared the buzz stating that he is “very happy making films.” During a book launch of Hindujas and Bollywood, held at the Institute of Directors at Pall Mall in central London on Sunday, Akshay was asked about his future plans of joining politics.

Answering the question he said, “I am very happy making films… As an actor, I do whatever possible to take up social issues. I have produced 150 films, the one nearest to my heart is Raksha Bandhan.”

He further added, “I produce commercial films, sometimes with social issues. I produce three-four films a year.”

It is to be noted that, Akshay was asked the same question back in 2019 when he was present at an event in Delhi. He was asked if he has ever thought of joining politics in the future and he said, “Never, I want to be happy. I love films and I contribute to my country through my films. This is my job.”

As far as the newly launched book of Hindujas is concerened, it glorifies their rise in the Hindi film industry, their work of distributing 1,200 films worldwide. These films include Mother India, Sangam, Guide, and Sholay among others, which played a significant role in shaping Hindi cinema.

At the work front, the Khiladi Kumar is gearing up for his upcoming Raksha Bandhan, the story of which is based on dowry culture. The film is slated to hit the screens on August 11. Raksha Bandhan, directed by Aanand L Rai will be the second collaboration with Akshay Kumar, after Atrangi Re which starred Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush in the lead roles Akshay’s last movie was Prithviraj that didn’t do well at the Box Office and was criticised for being unfactual and having bad casting.
