Honda Civic among the safest cars! 5 stars in crash test

New Delhi: The 2021 Honda Civic family sedan achieved a five-star safety rating in the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) crash test with a score of 83.47. It scored 36.59 out of 40.00 for adult occupant protection and 18.32 out of 20.00 for child occupant protection (COP) categories.

In the Safety Assist Technologies (SAT) category, the 2021 Civic scored 18.16 over 20.00 and in the Motorcyclist Safety (MS) category, it scored 10.39. The 2021 Honda Civic has become the first Honda car to be tested under the new ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol.

2021 Civic equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, AEB Cycle, AEB Motorcycle, Auto High Beam (AHB) ), Child Presence Detection (CPD) and Pedestrian Protection Technology as standard protection across all its variants. It also offers the standard six airbags but variants with four airbags are also offered in some markets.

Other safety features of the sedan include seatbelt reminder system (SBR) for the frontal and rear occupants, and blind spot visualization (BSV) on the passenger side, which is offered as a standard feature for the Singapore and Indonesia markets. .

The ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 Evaluation Protocol report mentions that the new AEB technology for the motorcycle has set Honda apart as standard fitment in the Civic variant. The technology allows to detect the presence of the motorcycle which is located in front of the car and perform automatic emergency braking in case the driver is unaware of the motorcyclist.

Honda stopped production of the Civic sedan with the CR-V model in India late last year after the company stopped manufacturing operations at its Greater Noida plant in Uttar Pradesh.
