New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that the “hateful” ideology of BJP and RSS has “overshadowed the loving, affectionate and nationalistic ideology of Congress party”.

The former Congress president added that Hinduism and Hindutva are different things.

“Today, whether we like it or not the hateful ideology of RSS and BJP has overshadowed the loving, affectionate and nationalistic ideology of Congress party, we have to accept this. Our ideology is alive, vibrant but it has been overshadowed,” Rahul Gandhi said during a training program of ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ via video conferencing.

“What is the difference between Hinduism and Hindutva, can they be the same thing? If they are the same thing, why don’t they have the same name? They are obviously different things. Is Hinduism about beating a Sikh or a Muslim? Hindutva of course is… Our ideology has been overshadowed because we have not propagated it among our own people aggressively,” he added.

This comes after complaints were filed against senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid over the release of his book, ‘Sunrise over Ayodhya–Nationhood in our times’. Two Delhi lawyers have filed complaints with Delhi Police against Khurshid, for allegedly defaming and comparing Hinduism with terrorism in his book.
