Here’s Probable Playing XI for India against England in 5th Test; See List & Reasons

Birmingham: Team India is set to face England in the 5th reschedules Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham. After many ups and downs, India has finally announced their captain but the team is yet to be revealed. Captain Rohit Sharma is ruled out of the series due Covid-19 and the leadership responsibility has been put on the shoulders of fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah.

The game is set to played between 1st July and 5th July and it holds utmost significance of the visiting side as they had left the series at 2-1 last year. A win in this game will give India their first ever Test series against England at their home since 2007. Though the novel captain Bumrah is “pretty clear” about the bating order but he will ‘reveal it at toss’ but it is always open for predictions.

Here’s is the list of Probable Playing XI for India

Openers: Shubhman Gill and Hanuma Vihari/Srikar Bharat

Reason: With Rohit Sharma ruled out of series, Vihari can get the chance to open for Team India but his performance in the warm game hasn’t been promising for the side which is the case with Srikar Bharat. In the two innings, Bharat scored unbeaten 70, after coming to bat at No.7 and 43 as the opener.

One Down: Cheteshwar Pujara

Two Down: Virat Kohli

Middle Order:

Hamuna Vihari/Shreyas Iyer

Reason: If Srikar and Vihari, both plays in the team then the opening command will be in the hands of Bharat whereas Vihari will walk the field in the middle order. Vihari has scored 3 and 20 in the two innings of warm-up game against Leicestershire. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for golden duck in first innings and scored 62 in the second innings, thus he will have to fight off his chances with Hanuma Vihari.

Vice-captain Rishabh Pant

Reason: Pant is the vice-captain for the visitors and will also handle wicket keeping for the side.

R. Ashwin

Reason: The best all-rounder of India has been called in England after he recovered from Covid-19 and will have many responsibilities on his shoulders.

Bowlers:

Jasprit Bumrah

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Siraj

There can be tussle between Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur. If the weather as predicted, rainy, Jadeja will have no prospect in the team.
