NEW DELHI (DIVYA SAINI): The Makar Sakranti is the festival that is celebrated with much excitement, which is also known as the harvest festival. The festival I celebrated on the next day of Lohri every year on January 14. People celebrate this day by distributing til-gur and jaggery laddoos and flying kites is the most popular tradition of the festival.
The festival of Makar Sakranti is celebrated in various parts of the country, and it is the first day of the sun’s transition into the zodiac sign Capricorn. Many people begin their day while bathing in Ganga Yamuna, Godavari and Krishna. The festival is most commonly known as Pongal in Tamil Nadu, Magh Bihu in Assam and Pedda Pandaga in Telangana. According to the Hindu religion, this activity is about removing sins committed by a person in their life.
