Vijayawada: A items train loaded with petroleum products caught fire after derailment in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district on Thursday, railway officers stated.
The incident occurred between Surareddipalem and Tangutur railway stations on Ongole-Gudur part of Vijayawada division within the early hours of the day, stated South Central Railway (SCR) officers.
Five BTPN wagons of the train, which was going to Bhakarapeta railway station in Guntakal division, received derailed after passing Surareddipalem station. Four wagons caught fire after the derailment.
Railway officers instantly swung into motion and separated the entrance portion and moved it one kilometre away from the spot to reduce the depth. Accident reduction trains from Bitragunta and Vijayawada railway stations additionally reached the spot.
SCR stated the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was additionally requested to help in rescue operations. Two fire engines from Surareddipalem and Tungutur had been additionally ordered to place off the fire.
