New Delhi: Who is the better captain – Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli. This question has once again sparked off a debate.
On the one hand, Mumbai Indians has won five titles under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
on the other hand is Virat Kohli the Team India skipper and captain of IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
On November 10, Mumbai Indians won the fifth IPL title under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, although Virat Kohli has done well in terms of captaincy and individual performances. But the debate has been over whether Rohit Sharma should be handed the captaincy of India’s T20 team.
There was a debate between Gautam Gambhir and Akash Chopra about this. Gambhir says that Rohit should be given the captaincy of the T20 team, while Akash Chopra wants a change in the captaincy of the team.
When Star Sports ‘Cricket Connected’ show raised the question of a better captain in the International Cricket T20, Gambhir said, “Virat Kohli is not a bad captain, but we are talking here about who is a better captain and better captain is Rohit Sharma.” He is not only better, there is a difference of ground between the two.
Replying to this, Akash Chopra said, “There is no time to change the captain of the T20 team, you do not have time to form a new team.” Before the next T20 World Cup, Team India has to play five-six T20 International matches. I will not attempt to add something that is not broken.
Gambhir said, “When we take players into the team according to the performance of the IPL, then why can’t we choose a captain based on the performance of the IPL?” Tell us why players take IPL batting?
On this, Aakash Chopra said, “I have accepted IPL, but the performance of international level will be considered as international level. If someone has done well for India and the IPL has been bad, then there is no problem in that.
So far Kohli has done nothing wrong as the captain of India in T20 cricket. Akash did not seem to agree with this serious, he said, “T Natarajan, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav are all wrongly selected because they have been selected on the basis of IPL?” To this, Akash replied, there is no reduction in T20 selection. However, after this debate, Rohit is trending on Twitter.
