Four militants, one Army jawan killed in two encounters in the Valley

Jammu and Kashmir Police said it killed two militants including a Lashker-e-Toiba TRF Commander during an encounter with security forces in Sopat area of South Kashmir.

Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Police said it killed two militants including a Lashker-e-Toiba TRF Commander during an encounter with security forces in Sopat area of South Kashmir. 

The police said brief encounter took place on Wednesday evening. The police said they were involved in the killing of two non-local labourers in Kulgam.

Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar tweeted, ” Police and Army neutralised LeT district commander (Gulzar Ahmd Reshi) of Kulgam and one other, who were involved in killings of two poor labourers from Bihar on 17/10/21 at Wanpoh: IGP Kashmir”, reads the tweet.

The police claimed based on specific information a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation in the area. The police said during the cordon the hiding militants fired upon the forces leading to a brief gunfight in which two militants were killed.

Earlier the day the police said two militants of the Resistance Front were killed in an encounter with a joint team of security forces at Dragad area of Shopian in South Kashmir. The police said in the encounter three army jawans were also wounded, one of them later succumbed to injuries.
