New Delhi: Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait blamed the BJP for the violence in Delhi during the tractor parade on Republic Day.
Rakesh Tikait said that there was a conspiracy by the BJP behind the violence in Delhi and the people hoisting the flag on the Red Fort on Republic Day belong to the BJP. He also said that the negligence of the police has led to violence.
Talking to News 24, Rakesh Tikait said, “This is the government’s job. In Delhi, the farmers were given access to the Red Fort. Simultaneously, BJP workers were sent there and the footage was broadcast to discredit farmers all over the world. The Delhi Police closed the march routes and the routes leading to the Red Fort were opened.”
“Those who adopted violence were people of a different ideology. Policemen are also from the ideology of the farmer. Those who have adopted vandalism against the policemen in the Red Fort and waved at the Red Fort, action should be taken against them, the farmers’ organization also demands from the government this,” Rakesh Tikait added.
“Deep Sidhu is not a Sikh, he is a BJP worker”
“Deep Sidhu is not a Sikh, he is a worker of the BJP. There is a picture of him with the PM. This is a movement of farmers & will remain so. Some people will have to leave this place immediately. Those who broke barricading will never be a part of the movement,” Rakesh Tikait was quoted as saying by ANI.
The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader also rejected accusations that he had provoked the protesting farmers to commit violence during the tractor parade on Republic Day.
When asked about his comments in a viral video in which he was seen appealing to his supporters to be armed with sticks, Rakesh Tikait said, “We said bring your own sticks. Please show me a flag without a stick, I will accept my mistake.”
