New Delhi: Eid-Ul-Fitr is a religious festival that Muslims celebrate Ramadan ul-Mubarak. This Yakm is celebrated on Shawwal al-Mukarram. Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. Like all months of the Islamic calendar, it also begins with the appearance of the new moon. Eid, the festival of Muslims, is basically a festival promoting brotherhood. Everyone celebrates this festival together and asks God for blessings of peace and prosperity. The Muslim festival of Eid Ramadan is one of the two Eids in Islam (the other one is called Eid ul Juha or Bakrid). Eid ul Fitr is determined by seeing the moon a day before and Eid is celebrated the next day after seeing the moon. In Saudi Arabia, the festival of Eid is celebrated for two days because the moon is seen one day before, and in India, the moon is seen one day later. Eid is an important festival so this day is a holiday. Its preparations start from the morning of Eid. On this auspicious day, people make a variety of dishes and wear new clothes, a beautiful way of thanking the Supreme power “Allah”.
