Delhi: Massive fire in Shastri Park furniture market; 250 shops burnt

New Delhi: A huge fire broke out in the furniture market of Shastri Park area in Delhi. More than 250 shops were burnt down due to this fire.

Around 8 people trapped in the fire were evacuated in time. The fire started late at around 12.45 on Saturday night.

As soon as the fire was reported, 32 vehicles of the fire department reached the spot. The fire department had to work hard to extinguish the fire. The fire department officials said that the fire was controlled at around 3 am.

According to Rajesh Shukla, Assistant Divisional Office at Delhi Fire Service, “the furniture market caught fire in Shastri Park. 32 fire tenders rushed to the scene and started extinguishing the fire. Eight people have been evacuated.”

In the last few days, many incidents of fire have been reported in Delhi. Three days ago, there was a fire in Delhi’s Dilshad Garden industrial area. The fire started in the morning in a stationary warehouse located in a four-storey building. However no casualties were reported in the incident.

The fire was fierce that 15 fire engines were sent to the spot. Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg had said that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the stationery warehouse.
