New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi has extended its help to the young players of the national capital. In a ceremony organized at Delhi’s Chhatrasal Stadium, 307 players have been given some incentives, so that the youth can maintain passion and passion for the game.
The Arvind Kejriwal government has also given an incentive amount of Rs 7.48 crore.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Olympic winner Sushil Kumar were present at the ceremony. Giving this amount to the players, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Delhi Government is taking care of the young players with excellent training as well as their good nutrition. For the last 3 years Delhi has stood first in ‘School Games’.
This has been the reason that the NITI Aayog of the Central Government has ranked the government schools of Delhi as the first in the country. It is a matter of pride for the whole of Delhi.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that other governments pay attention to the players after bringing the medals, while the Delhi government helps its promising players meet their needs in times of struggle and help them win the medals. Under this scheme, the Delhi government provides an assistance of Rs 2 lakh to under-14 players and Rs 3 lakh to under-17 players.
Financial assistance of Rs.16 lakhs is given annually to the players who perform well in the game after the under-17s. It is to be noted that the Government of Delhi has implemented a ‘Play and Progress’ scheme for school players to promote sports talent at the state level. In this, players from Under-14 to Under-17 were given incentives ranging from Rs 2 to 3 lakh on Thursday.
Under this scheme, players of 18 sports including cricket, badminton, judo, tennis and kabaddi are given benefits. In the year 2018-19, under this scheme, 357 school players were given an incentive amount of 8.72 crore. According to the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi,
Delhi received 508 Gold, 303 Silver, 273 Bronze, 1084 medals in various sports competitions in the year 2017-18. In the year 2018-19, 484 gold, 306 silver, 286 bronze, total 1076 medals were received. In the year 2019-20, 408 Gold, 285 Silver, 302 Bronze, 995 medals were received. Also, in the ‘Khelo India Youth Games 2020’ third edition, Delhi players brought 39 gold, 36 silver, 47 bronze medals.
