Cyclone Nivar likely to intensify further into ‘Very Severe Cyclonic Storm’; landfall expected around evening

Cyclone Nivar is expected to intensify into a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ and move west-northwestwards before crossing the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry between Karaikal and Mamallapuram on November 25 evening with a wind speed of 120-130 kmph gusting to 145 kmph. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry over the next 24-48 hours.
