New Delhi: Coronavirus cases continue to rise as India on Thursday recorded 18,819 new cases in the last 24 hours , bringing the total caseload to 4,34,52,164, the Union Health Ministry said. The total active cases of COVID-19 in India have risen to 1,04,555, the health ministry data showed today. Yesterday, the registered active cases were 99,602. The country has witnessed a jump of more than 4,000 cases in just 24 hours.
The death toll climbed to 5,25,116 with 39 new fatalities in the last 24 hours. A total of 13,827 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 4,28,22,493 across the country.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 86,23,75,489 samples have been tested up to June 29 for COVID-19. Of these 4,52,430 samples were tested on Wednesday. India has administered a total of 14,17,217 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,97,61,91,554. India’s Covid-19 tally surpassed the 1-crore mark on December 19, 2020. The country crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore on May 4, 2021, and 4 crore on January 25 this year.
Amid the surge of covid cases in some parts of the country, the Centre on Tuesday has directed States and UTs to focus on accelerating second and precaution doses of Covid-19 vaccination.
