Coronavirus vaccination will be faster in July, August: Amit Shah

Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Monday that the central government has decided to increase the pace of vaccination against COVID-19 in July and August.

Speaking to reporters after visiting a vaccination centre, Amit Shah said, “with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to provide free vaccine against COVID-19 to people aged 18 and above, we are ready to vaccinate almost everyone. will achieve the target faster.”

“The central government has decided to increase the pace of vaccination in July and August. From Monday morning, an important journey in the fight against Covid-19 has begun under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added. 

The Union Home Minister said that the Prime Minister has taken an important decision that the Center will provide free vaccination to people of 18 years of age and above. He said that free vaccination is a big decision in a country with such a large population.

Amit Shah said that on International Yoga Day, a campaign for giving free vaccines is being launched across the country on Monday.

“Now we will reach the goal of vaccinating almost everyone much faster,” he said. 

Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Ahmedabad from Monday.

Today 7th International Yoga Day is being celebrated all over the world including India. On this occasion, the next phase of vaccination is going to start in the country from today, taking forward the war against the global coronavirus pandemic. 

During this vaccination phase, people in the age group of 18 to 44 can directly go to the vaccination centers and get the Covid-19 vaccine.

Till now people in the age group of 18 to 44 years were required to make an appointment through the CoWIN portal to get the vaccine. According to the new policy, all people above the age of 18 years will get free vaccine through the central and state governments. Before this the center was not vaccinating people below 45 years of age.

 It has been clearly stated in the new vaccination policy that private hospitals will no longer be able to charge arbitrary prices for coronavirus vaccination. The Center has fixed the maximum rate of vaccine in private hospitals which is Rs 780 for a single dose of Covishield. In private hospitals, the price of the Sputnik vaccine has been fixed at Rs 1145 and that of Covaccine at Rs 1410.

The Union Health Ministry has made it clear that there is no dearth of vaccine availability at this stage and the state governments are also fully prepared to introduce more and more vaccines. The states have made full preparations to make available the vaccine near the homes of the people by opening a large number of vaccination centers.
