Coronavirus Pandemic: THIS city to impose curfew due to increasing COVID-19 cases

New Delhi: The coronavirus pandemic has gained momentum once again in many parts of the country, due to which the central and state governments have become active. 

In view of the increasing cases of coronavirus in Gujarat also, the state government has decided to impose a curfew in Ahmedabad. The curfew will be imposed in Ahmedabad from 9 pm on November 20, which will remain till 6 in the morning of November 23.

It has been said by the government that during this time only milk and drug stores will be open. The government has taken this decision in view of the fast increasing cases of coronavirus in Ahmedabad.

Amid the sudden increase in new coronavirus cases during the festive season, officials said that an adequate number of beds have been provided for COVID-19 patients in city hospitals. The city of Ahmedabad has been witnessing a steady increase in coronavirus cases since early November. The city is now seeing more than 200 COVID-19 infections per day, up from 125 to 130 daily a few months ago.

Additional Chief Secretary Rajeev Kumar Gupta said that 40 percent beds are still available in hospitals for coronavirus patients appointed for special officers of Covid-19 in Ahmedabad city.

The state health department said that 220 new coronavirus cases have been registered in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat on Wednesday. The department said that with five more deaths, the number of people who died due to epidemics in the district rose to 1,949. With the recovery of 221, the number of patients discharged from hospitals increased to 40,753.
