China under pressure as US demands probe into coronavirus origin

New Delhi: About eighteen months ago, China had reported the first case of coronavirus to the world. This deadly SARS-CoV-2 virus has spread like wildfire worldwide and more than 3.5 million people have died so far.

The coronavirus pandemic has infected over 16.8 million people in more than 180 countries. But there is still a fundamental question related to the coronavirus that is circulating in everyone’s mind. Where did the coronavirus come from? How did it originate?

No clear picture has been made about this yet. There is only one theory that suspects that the coronavirus may have been leaked from the Wuhan lab in China.

The demand for investigation into the leaking of coronavirus from the Wuhan Lab of China  has arisen all over the world once again, including the US. The World Health Organization (WHO) may once again investigate the leak of the Covid-19 virus from the Wuhan lab in China.

The World Health Organization (WHO) may re-study how the Covid-19 (SARS-Cove-2) virus originated and spread worldwide, possibly from a lab in Wuhan, China. WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyes has also agreed on the need for further study.

The demand for an independent investigation into the origin of the coronavirus has intensified after new reports emerged from the US stating that some researchers from Wuhan Lab fell ill before the official announcement of the Covid-19 leak by China on December 30, 2019.

China silent on this issue

Speaking on the allegations of the coronavirus leak from the Wuhan lab, China has once again maintained silence. China has dodged the question of whether it will allow an independent investigation into allegations of the COVID-19 leak from the Wuhan Virology Institute (WIV). Researchers in China have claimed that the infection has passed from pangolin (a type of lizard) to humans.

Responding to questions on the demand for an investigation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian cited a study by the World Health Organization (WHO) expert group on the origin of the coronavirus, but deferred the question of whether China will agree to an investigation into allegations of Covid-19 leak from th Wuhan lab.

US wants investigation into Covid-19 leak

The United States wants to continue investigating the origin of the coronavirus. America believes that it is necessary to know from where in the world did this virus spread.

US President Joe Biden has ordered the submission of the investigation report regarding the lab leak within 90 days. The US president said evidence is insufficient to conclude whether it emerged from human contact with an infected animal or from an accident in the lab.
