Brisbane: Australia were bowled out for 294 in their second innings against India on Day Four of the fourth and final Test against India at The Gabba in Brisbane on Monday.
Australia have thus built up a formidable lead of 327 runs and with the entire fifth day’s play stiil to go, India face an uphill battle in their quest to avoid defeat.
Rookie fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur performed exceedingly well for India. Mohammed Siraj was the most succcesful among the Indian bowlers with figures of 5/73 while Shardul Thakur returned 4/61.
Earlier. excellent batting by Steve Smith and Cameron Green had powered Australia to a winning position at Tea
Steven Smith scored a quick 55 off just 74 deliveries before being dismissed by Mohammed Siraj while Cameron Green posted a steady 37.
At the end of the post-lunch session on Day 4, Australia had posted 276/7 in their second innings. Tailenders Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc were at the crease on 2 and 1 respectively.
Play was interrupted by rain which forced umpires to call for an early Tea break.
When play resumed in the final session of the day, fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur wrapped up the rest of Australia’s batting line-up.
